First Visit Expectations

Early initial visits are essential because they can prevent many bad oral habits and unnecessary dental conditions.

In line with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's recommendations, we believe that a child's first dental visit be scheduled by their 1st birthday. As parents, you can help make your child's visit a positive one.

Please refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle," "shot," "pull," "drill," or "hurt." We are experienced in dealing with children with anxiety and can explain treatment procedures positively and pleasantly to avoid any anxious or negative feelings about dentistry. Children should be encouraged to discuss any fears or anxiety they feel.

Certain medical conditions can influence their treatment plan, so you will be asked to list any medications and their dosages (including vitamins and supplements).

We will examine your child's existing teeth, overall bite, gums, jaw, and oral tissues during the exam, looking for any potential problems.

After your child's exam, they will receive a small gift from our prize tower, and Dr. Akinrefon will answer any questions you may have and discuss any treatment recommendations.
